Laguna Beach made for a perfect backdrop for Eli and Joanna’s engagement session. I first met Eli and Joanna last year when I photographed Eli’s brother, Zach’s wedding. After Zach and KK’s wedding, Eli and Joanna set up a meeting with me to chat about their wedding. The meeting was super fun for me because we both brought our Miniature Dachshunds to the meeting. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I’m obsessed with wiener dogs! Their doggie, Woody is super cute! Just like my dog, Dash, Woody is a long hair Miniature Dachshund. During the meeting, we discovered we had even more things in common like how Joanna is from Missouri and is very familiar with Kansas City. It’s always nice meeting other people from the midwest and I love that we have that connection.
During their shoot, Eli and Joanna had the best chemistry. They are silly, sweet and playful with each other. My favorite photos from their session where when they were joking around and and Eli was tickling Joanna. They just look like they are having so much fun together. Because Eli works for Montage in Beverly Hills, they decided to stay at the Montage in Laguna Beach the night before our shoot. We decided to first shoot in the little downtown area of Laguna Beach and then head back to the Montage and shoot at Treasure Island Beach.
Treasure Island Beach is really beautiful and fun to shoot at because of the tide pools and the rock formations. The only problem with the beach is that the rocks by the tide pools are really sharp so during the session I helped Joanna by sharing shoes with her so that she could easily move around the rocks and then be barefoot again by the time we needed to shoot again.
I can’t wait for Joanna and Eli’s beautiful wedding this December at Hillcrest Country Club! I hope you enjoy their photos.
