One of my favorite areas of Kansas City is the West Bottoms. When I first moved to Kansas City, there really wasn’t much down there except for several haunted houses. After a couple really lovely antique shops moved into the area and gained popularity, the West Bottoms have seen a huge resurgence. Whenever I’m back in Kansas City, I love checking out all of the wonderful antiquing and vintage shops down there. The area is also as all Kansas City photographers know really wonderful for photography. It was an easy pick for Kellyn & Erick’s engagement session. We also shot in the Historic Northeast, by the Kansas City Museum. I love the museum because of it’s beautiful grand architecture and grounds. I also love the houses that are in the area around it. I’m such a sucker for old houses.

Hooray! It’s here! It’s finally here! It’s the day I get to show off my shiny, pretty new website!

I’m so thrilled and excited to share what my website designer, Brianna from Sail Away Creative and I have been working on now for several months. When I started this process, I had an outdated site that had much darker colors and didn’t really reflect my style or my current work. I had been dying to create a site that was fresh, modern and felt light and airy like my photography work. After months of stressing on the right colors, designs and layouts, I’m so happy with where we landed. A huge thank you needs to go out to Brianna for putting up with my crazy ideas, schedule changes and visual ocd. If you are looking to change up your site, I highly recommend working with her.

I first met Ashley in Kansas City when I designed the costumes for a musical she was performing in. I met Kenny for the first time through Ashley. Kenny also works in theatre and is a very talented dancer. Last year I photographed Kenny’s head shots and we had a great time getting to know each other. So when they approached me to photograph their wedding naturally I was really excited! I was even more excited when I found out there wedding was going to be held at The Van Noy Mansion in Kansas City.

My favorite couples are couples who crack each other up. It’s hard to look at these photos and not see how much Ruzelle and Spencer make each other laugh. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard during an engagement session before. It’s hard to call what I do work when it’s that much fun! When we first started chatting about ideas for engagement session locations, we were trying to come up with a location that had a lot of color. I love photographing color, and that’s one of the reasons Ruzelle and Spencer decided to hire me. We decided to shoot in Downtown Los Angeles in the Arts District. Spencer and Ruzelle spend a lot of their free time in the area and love some of the local food spots. My husband, Will, and I are both foodies so I was really excited to hear that they wanted to stop at Pie Hole. Pie Hole is a pie shop that serves tasty, tasty pies.

I think that one of the coolest parts about living in Los Angeles is the abundance of famous and unique wedding venues. Mark and Don selected the Houdini Mansion as their wedding venue and didn’t think that they would be able to get their ideal date of Halloween. To their surprise and delight, when they checked it was actually available.
