After shooting Ruzelle and Spencer’s engagement session a couple months ago in the arts district downtown, I couldn’t wait to shoot their New Years Eve wedding at Studio 1342. Studio 1342 is one of those venues that I get super excited about. I love the graphic murals, quirky hub cap wall and of course I love the fact that when it’s not a wedding venue…it’s a photo studio.

One of my favorite areas of Kansas City is the West Bottoms. When I first moved to Kansas City, there really wasn’t much down there except for several haunted houses. After a couple really lovely antique shops moved into the area and gained popularity, the West Bottoms have seen a huge resurgence. Whenever I’m back in Kansas City, I love checking out all of the wonderful antiquing and vintage shops down there. The area is also as all Kansas City photographers know really wonderful for photography. It was an easy pick for Kellyn & Erick’s engagement session. We also shot in the Historic Northeast, by the Kansas City Museum. I love the museum because of it’s beautiful grand architecture and grounds. I also love the houses that are in the area around it. I’m such a sucker for old houses.

Hooray! It’s here! It’s finally here! It’s the day I get to show off my shiny, pretty new website!

I’m so thrilled and excited to share what my website designer, Brianna from Sail Away Creative and I have been working on now for several months. When I started this process, I had an outdated site that had much darker colors and didn’t really reflect my style or my current work. I had been dying to create a site that was fresh, modern and felt light and airy like my photography work. After months of stressing on the right colors, designs and layouts, I’m so happy with where we landed. A huge thank you needs to go out to Brianna for putting up with my crazy ideas, schedule changes and visual ocd. If you are looking to change up your site, I highly recommend working with her.

I first met Ashley in Kansas City when I designed the costumes for a musical she was performing in. I met Kenny for the first time through Ashley. Kenny also works in theatre and is a very talented dancer. Last year I photographed Kenny’s head shots and we had a great time getting to know each other. So when they approached me to photograph their wedding naturally I was really excited! I was even more excited when I found out there wedding was going to be held at The Van Noy Mansion in Kansas City.
